Monday 21st February – Hours 128-136

Today I will be continuing on with the Wedding stationery brief, mainly on the print design and the issue of developing these ideas, I got some useful feedback on these designs and made haste on making my designs look good.

You can see that my next group of designs tried not to be so heavy and be much more arranged, a big contrast from the other designs.

Tuesday 22nd February – Hours 136-144

Today I was very in demand, firstly getting briefed on some new pages for the wedding stationery and then to work on some more scenes for the Flooid animation.

The Flooid work was more urgent than the stationary so I worked on that first, my task was to try and make the below diagram 'better'

Some features to work on included working on the text size and placement, as you can see some of the text is hard to read and is placed over some of the lines, the lines themselves go wonky in places and make the whole piece a bit confusing.

There were so many changes that had to be made that I proposed that we redesign the whole thing to something similar to the below -

Although this would have been more structurally sound, it may not have been able to contain all of the information. After getting a second and third opinion on this, we settled on just redesigning the original as it was what the client had envisioned.

I was reminded that I could use some of Flooid's gradients to help sort and un-jumble the mess that was the original, below is some of my progress on this graphic.

Final Design

Although very similar to the original, this version has much more consistency and is a lot easier to read, next up was to work on some icons for the animation, these were to be some easter eggs, holly, sale sticker, social media and a letterbox. Below are the first and second set of icons I developed for this.

The letterbox and the eggs went through the most re-designs to make it look right.

After all of the Flooid work, I began work on the wedding itinerary;

Brief and text for Itinerary

I had not much of the day left to complete this so I only got one developed design for this which can be seen below - just like previous work, a lot of this was too heavy and didn't match well with the client's expectations.

Wednesday 23rd February – Hours 144-152

Today I worked through some more Flooid illustrations.

I am already quite familiar with the Flooid style of work as I've completed quite a few different tasks for this client, it is therefore quite easy for me to just get to it for these images, I did this for about half the day and then continued work on the wedding stationery.

By the end of the day I had produced a lot of work for Charlie+Daisy which I was very happy with and also satisfied a lot of the parameters set out by the client.

Thursday 24th February – Hours 152-160

Today I just worked on some very tedious layering tasks, this just involved sorting through some previous Flooid illustrations into layers like below

Although a very slow task I was able to take it at my own pace and make sure everything was perfect.

This was especially important for this task as these illustrations would soon be heading over to an animator to be animated and it is essential that they are able to work as quickly and fluidly as possible.

This week at Stencil has been very fun and it was a change to be able to work independently on a project such as Charlie+Daisy.

I've really enjoyed working on the Flooid illustrations as well throughout the week
